April is National Volunteer Month!

The United Way Volunteer Center has issued a challenge to Larimer County residents to volunteer 75,000 hours during the month of April in honor of National Volunteer Month. If the goal is achieved, volunteers will have contributed $1.4-million to our community!

National Volunteer Week began in 1974 as an annual celebration of volunteerism. The Volunteer Center of Larimer County has extended this promotion of volunteerism to extend throughout the entire month of April in order to include many local events and to encourage long-term volunteerism.

There are numerous volunteer activities and events available in April for the community to get involved, including National and Global Youth Service Week (April 21-27), CSUnity (April 12), Earth Day (April 22), Board Bank training (April 14), and Business Cares, a program that helps companies get their employees involved in the community. In addition, there are numerous daily volunteer activities throughout the month.

A select number of work projects have been organized by the United Way and corporate supporters.  CLICK HERE to view these projects and register online.

Every volunteer that contributes to the 75,000 hour goal and reports their volunteer hours with the Volunteer Center will receive a free drip-coffee, tea or brownie from Mugs Coffee Lounge.

United Way is a vehicle for the community to support itself and to help county residents during their times of need. United Way is governed by a volunteer board of local community leaders and much of the day to day work is carried out by local volunteers.

Here in Larimer County, United Way is working to advance the common good by focusing on the building blocks for a good life. Our goal is to create long-lasting changes that prevent problems from happening in the first place. We invite you to be part of the change. Together, united, we can inspire hope and create opportunities for a better tomorrow.

That’s what it means to LIVE UNITED.
