Global Youth Service Day (GYSD)

April 21-27, 2008

United Way 2-1-1 would like to invite you to get your students involved with helping others.

United Way 2-1-1 is hosting our 7th Annual Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) - a week that promotes service among youth.  GYSD is the largest service event in the world!  The goal of GYSD is to mobilize youth to identify and address the needs of their communities through service, recruit the next generation of volunteers, and educate the public about the year-round contributions young people make as community leaders.  Over the past 19 years, GYSD has brought together more than 31 million youth through service in over 100 countries worldwide. Last year alone, over 500 students in Larimer County made a difference in their communities by serving in GYSD projects!  Help us make sure the youth in our community are represented again this year!

Global Youth Service Week will take place from Monday, April 21 through Sunday, April 27, 2008.  United Way 2-1-1 is looking for youth and educators interested in taking part in organizing a service project at some point that week.  Participants can work within their schools or connect with local organizations to tackle problems they see in their community.

**Please register your projects with us so that we can recognize that contributions you are making in our community.
